World’s longest tiramisu record broken in London

A Record-Breaking Achievement in London

In a bold culinary display, 100 Italian chefs came together in London to create a tiramisu that shattered the previous world record. The monumental dessert, measuring 440.6 meters (1,445 feet), was assembled over two days at Chelsea Town Hall, surpassing the prior benchmark set by Milan’s Galbani in 2017, which stood at 273.5 meters (897 feet).

The record-breaking effort required 50,000 ladyfinger biscuits and over 3,000 eggs, crafted and built live on-site as per Guinness World Records guidelines. Mirko Ricci, the organizer of the London attempt, noted that the team chose the UK over Italy to express gratitude to the United Kingdom. He described the creation as “the most incredible dessert that Italy has exported,” adding it was a tribute to the King and the Royal Family, crowned with a golden emblem.

For the record to qualify, the dessert had to meet strict dimensions: at least 8 centimeters (3.15 inches) in height and 15 centimeters (5.9 inches) in width, according to Chef Carmelo Carnevale, who emphasized the importance of a strong coffee base, firm cream, and “a lot of passion” in achieving perfection. Ricci also thanked participants for their dedication, calling the accomplishment “a record for us.”

“A very good coffee, a nice and firm cream, and also a lot of passion,” Carnevale said when asked about what defines a great tiramisu.
