Olivia Dean Secures Multiple Accolades at MOBO Awards
Olivia Dean, the singer-songwriter, has once again dominated the MOBO Awards, collecting three major honors. Following her Grammy and Brit Award wins, the artist’s achievements at this year’s ceremony, held at Manchester’s Co-op Live, include Best Female Act, Best Album, and Best Song for her chart-topping project *The Art Of Loving* and its hit single *Man I Need*.
Dean’s eclectic sound, merging pop, funk, and soul, was highlighted through performances alongside FLO, Aitch, and Myles Smith, as well as a grime medley by Chip, D Double E, Nolay, Scorcher, and Wiley, arranged by DJ Target. The 30th-anniversary edition of the MOBO Awards also welcomed special guest appearances from US artists Pharrell Williams, who received the Global Songwriter Award, and Slick Rick, honored with a Lifetime Achievement accolade.
With her Grammy triumph in January and recent success at the Brit Awards, Dean now boasts a growing list of accolades, including this year’s MOBO honors. Meanwhile, other winners included Jim Legxacy for Best Male Act, Raye for Video of the Year with *Where Is My Husband!*, and DC3, who claimed both Best New Artist and Best Gospel Act titles.
Additional categories spotlighted FLO as Best RnB/Soul Act, Nova Twins as Best Alternative Act, Central Cee for Best Hip-Hop Act, and Ezra Collective, the 2023 Mercury Prize winners, for Best Jazz Act. Sherelle took Best Electronic/Dance Act, while P2J was awarded Best Producer.
International honors went to Arya Starr, named Best International Act, Wizkid for Best African Music Act, and Vybz Kartel for Best Caribbean Music Act. Beyond music, the event celebrated Niko Omilana as Best Media Personality, a YouTuber and *Celebrity Traitors* star. Stephen Graham, who has garnered multiple BAFTA nods and recent accolades at the Golden Globes and Emmys, was acknowledged for his role in the influential series *Adolescence*.
