EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Diana’s Wedding Gown Designer Faces Financial Hardship

At her 1981 wedding to Prince Charles, Lady Diana Spencer’s iconic bridal attire—designed by David Emanuel and his spouse Elizabeth—captivated an estimated 750 million viewers worldwide. The ivory silk taffeta creation, adorned with intricate lace and featuring a 25-foot train, remains a symbol of royal elegance, though it has not secured David’s financial stability.

Recent filings reveal that both of David’s ventures have collapsed, leaving him in debt of nearly £300,000. The Licensed to Design firm, launched in 2002, carries £280,000 in liabilities, while Renaissance Man, established in 2018, owes additional sums. He has listed assets valued at £164,000 as uncertain, with fixtures and fittings estimated at £96,000 and directors’ loans of £60,000 also in doubt.

“Everything is now looking up for Ewan. He’ll be back to sport and playing the piano and that’s all because of the NHS,”

David, who previously faced financial strain after his marriage to Elizabeth ended, has disclosed his debts to liquidators. Liabilities include £72,000 in corporation tax owed to HMRC, £103,000 to NatWest Bank, and £33,000 to Ovo Energy. His daughter Eloise and himself are among the creditors, with £5,000 and £44,438 respectively.
