Britney Spears goes into rehab after driving under the influence arrest
Britney Spears Enters Rehabilitation Following DUI Arrest
Britney Spears has begun a rehabilitation program, one month after her arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Her spokesperson shared this information with several American news organizations on Sunday, confirming her voluntary admission to a treatment facility. The incident occurred on 4 March, when Spears was reported to authorities for erratic behavior while operating her BMW on a highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Following the arrest, her representative described the event as “entirely unacceptable” and emphasized that her loved ones would “develop a long-overdue plan to support her recovery and well-being.” The decision to enter rehab precedes her upcoming court appearance in California, which is scheduled three weeks from now. During the stop, Spears exhibited signs of impairment and completed a series of field sobriety tests after being pulled over.
“Britney is committed to taking the correct steps and adhering to legal requirements,” the spokesperson added. “This marks the start of a necessary transformation in her life. Her sons will be accompanying her, and her family will ensure she receives the assistance she needs during this challenging period.”
Spears, a global pop icon, has produced chart-topping tracks such as *Baby One More Time*, *Toxic*, *Everytime*, *Gimme More*, *Womanizer*, and *Stronger*. For over a decade until 2021, she was under a conservatorship—a legal arrangement that managed her finances and personal affairs by her father. He stated the guardianship was essential due to her “chaotic state and struggles across physical, emotional, mental, and financial aspects.”
Through the conservatorship, Spears achieved stability in multiple areas of her life. The arrangement was deemed effective, and now she aims to reclaim full control of her personal and professional decisions.
