Strictly star will not face rape charges, police say

A Strictly Come Dancing personality, arrested earlier this year on rape suspicion, has been cleared of criminal charges by law enforcement. The individual, whose name remains undisclosed, was taken into custody on October 13, 2025, and granted bail for further investigation. Hertfordshire Police confirmed on Tuesday that after consulting with the Crown Prosecution Service, there was deemed to be “not enough evidence” to proceed with formal accusations.

“The man, who had his bail extended on January 6 until today, April 7, 2026, to allow more time for inquiry, will not face further legal action,” stated Hertfordshire Police. “Early guidance from the Crown Prosecution Service indicated insufficient grounds for criminal charges.”

Media outlets, including The Sun, had previously reported that the alleged incident occurred after a BBC event. The woman involved was not a contestant or professional dancer on the show but had connected with the individual through his participation in the competition. This development is separate from the most recent season of Strictly, which airs from September to December and is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.

The arrest in October followed another case involving a man tied to the BBC dance series. In August, he was also detained on suspicion of rape, with the Metropolitan Police adding that he was additionally linked to non-consensual intimate image abuse. The role of this second individual in the program has yet to be disclosed.
